Megennis and #Yellowsquad take fresh motivation to Los Angeles

The second phase of the 2022-2023 Nitro Rallycross Championship gets underway this weekend, as the forthcoming round of the series at Glen Helen in Los Angeles, California acts as the opening instalment of the NRX NEXT North American Championship [October 29-30].

Having raced the #YellowSquad Supercar Lites machine at Nitro RX events in the UK, Sweden and Minnesota (USA) in 2022, American rising talent George Megennis has improved progressively throughout the campaign so far, and concluded the NRX NEXT Europe series with his strongest performance to-date at the ERX Motor Park earlier this month.

Now, with fast pace and strong race craft in his locker, and experience from racing at the Glen Helen circuit 12 months ago, 17-year-old Megennis is targeting at least a repeat of his 2021 podium at the all-dirt venue, to add to his 2022 tally and begin his title-challenge with vigour.

Megennis and #YellowSquad have two chances to challenge for victory this weekend in the double-header, on Sunday and Sunday, the first two rounds of the NRX NEXT North American Championship, before further double-header weekends are held in Phoenix at the Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Arizona next month, then a finale weekend in Calgary, Canada in February.

The action will be streamed live on the Nitro RX broadcast, on Facebook and YouTube.

“Minnesota last time out was such a fun event. We had great pace all weekend, and made sure to stay conservative and save the car.

At the end we came away with some great results. The track was super fun and type of driving the track needed absolutely suited me.

Glen Helen is quite similar in style, and on the back on that strong weekend I can’t wait to get started and get this second phase of the season underway.”

“We finished the European series with a streak of good results, so we want to keep that going and be consistent in the America series too, with the goal of fighting for the championship.

For sure we want to win every time we go on track, we have been close a few times this year now and it feels like it’s our time. We can’t wait to get back to LA and Glen Helen, it’s a very cool race track and George had great pace there last year so we have high hopes.”
