#YellowSquad starts 2021 preparations with driver evaluation test

#YellowSquad has already begun its preparations for the 2021 rallycross season, conducting a driver evaluation test as it seeks to identify the next generation of rallycross world champions.

Henrik Krogstad won the RallyX Nordic Lites championship with #YellowSquad last season and the team is already on the lookout for more talented young rallycross champions of the future.

An evaluation test was conducted at Kalvholmen Motorstadion as part of #YellowSquad’s selection process for the 2021 RallyX Nordic Lites season, which also represented the team’s first running since clinching both the RX2 and RX Nordic Lites championships at the Nysum season finale on September 6 this year.

#YellowSquad’s comprehensive driver education programme benefits from the expert guidance our Head of Driver Development, 2019 World Rallycross Champion Timmy Hansen, who was on hand to assess driver performance.

Team principal Kevin Hansen and team manager Eric Färén were also on hand as the team’s Supercar Lites machine went through a rigorous testing programme, racking up more testing miles with a series of trouble-free runs at the Karlstad rallycross track.

“We have already begun testing for #YellowSquad’s anticipated return to RallyX Nordic in 2021 with the Supercar Lites class. This late-season test is more like a 2021 pre-season test, focusing our efforts on preparing for a new year ahead, especially considering it has been almost three months since we won both the RX2 and RX Nordic Lites titles in Denmark.

“Our test was important in two distinct ways. Firstly, we are working to select the right driver that has potential to pick up Henrik Krogstad’s mantle as a Lites champion; someone who can begin a journey towards the top level of rallycross. But it was also an important test for the rest of our team, ensuring everyone is staying sharp over the long off-season period,” said Kevin Hansen, #YellowSquad Team Principal.

“The conditions were a bit tricky; it was quite cold, though it did mean we got to understand the car and the tyres even further. It was good for the team to do some serious running again after a long break, while also experiencing different conditions.

“We’re committed to a future in RallyX Nordic and it was nice to get out there and show we’re not going to stop finding improvements. We had a very good 2020 with Henrik but we want to continue developing the team to ensure we stay on top in the future. And to do that, we must keep working all year round.”
